Here’s the latest from Carrie ‘The Baroness’ Reichardt: This is an open studio, so we are selling direct from the artists and we are donating 10% from all sales to Reel News – a London based video activist collective. So come shop locally, shop ethically and support those who are risking their lives to bring you the truth from the front line. And do us a favour and tell your mates…..
Here here Baroness! Tell everyone – enemies and friends – there are some truly unique pieces to be picked up here. This work will be front and center in the world famous Bonhams ‘Art of the Revolution’ auction in 2014.
THERE”S EVEN STUFF FOR THE KIDS!
The main event is a Live Art Jam where we’re building a panel the same size as our Great Eastern Street wall. It will be painted live by wall artists including SHEONE, Will Barras, Toasters, Mr Jago and Pure Evil. The wall will then be broken into 50cm sq tiles and sold on the day.
Manning the market stalls are East London artists and collectives including Moniker Projects, Black Rat Press, Nelly Duff, Nobrow, Hang-Up Pictures, Beach London, Supreme Being and Scrawl Collective. They will be pushing a ton of limited edition Christmas goodies including prints, sketches, models, clothes and illustrations. The Hit and Run will also be doing live screen printing – just bring along clothes to customize.
In addition to this we’re holding a priceless art raffle for gifts that money can’t buy. Original artwork, prints, one off T-shirts and toys have been kindly donated by Eine, David Walker, Ronzo and many more.
We’ll get the customary vat of mulled wine and cider on the go with a bit of music and even some dancing. The event also doubles up as a thank you party for all the people who have contributed to our crowd funded art gallery: The Wall
Doors at midday until late at Village Underground, 54 Holywell Lane, EC2A, 3PQ. Donation £2, £1 concs and free for all people who have pledged towards the wall. For more information call 020 7422 7505.
Speaking of transactions, and as luck would have it, our friends at Village Underground have an idea. A project. It’s called The Wall. With your help they want to make London’s biggest public art gallery. The best part is that you can be a part of it, have a look, donate a dollar, we have and we think you should consider it, perhaps even do it:

The Bigfoot Project – Kathmandu, Nepal from bruno levy on Vimeo.
The walls of Kathmandu are filled with political slogans. This once peaceful and serene city has been bombarded in the last several years with red Devanagari script informing political parties the time and place of the next gathering. Although political graffiti has existed for quite some time in Nepal, it really became apparent when the Maoists came into Kathmandu after ten years of guerilla war. In what seemed like overnight, city walls, not really belonging to anyone but the city became covered with communist propaganda. In a country where politics seems to still agitate the lives of the people, the red letters became replaced with new parties and new messages but always reminding the people of trouble times. In the Summer of 2011, I decided to go spend some time in this capital to try to make these walls more colorful, give new life and hopefully inspire others to express themselves in ways that seem, to me, so natural. The BigFoot Sculpture was tied to a tree in Kathmandu Durbar Square, a world heritage site. It stayed there for over a week. Peoples reactions varied from simple shock to prayer and worship.

Special thanks to all the people that helped in making this project possible. Especially Chandan Shakya, who helped build the sculpture, paint, drove me around and without his hard work this project would have never existed.
